Elkton, Maryland
A small, successful community hospital needed to accommodate the needs for auxiliary space for clinical, surgical, therapeutic and office space in a separate structure adjacent to and providing a pedestrian link to the hospital. This result was a successful design which met the hospital’s needs on an extremely tight site which required variances for parking counts and vehicular access needed to be provided under the building. The project is part of master plan to provide forward thinking solutions to the growth of a health care provider in a small town setting.

Union Hospital: Parking Garage
Elkton, Maryland
The parking needs of this community hospital no longer could be provided for efficiently on surface parking lots. This project created the first parking structure in Cecil County so great attention was provided to local authorities to ease the approval process. The design of the structure integrated with an adjacent medical office building as well as provided a pleasant pedestrian connection to the hospital. The design of the structure was particularly sensitive to the needs of the elderly and infirm by maximizing the percentage of flat floors for parking so exiting vehicles and walking to elevators was easy and understandable.
