ING Direct: Kent Building
Wilmington, Delaware
The adaptive reuse of this 6 story, 19th century brick warehouse building is an excellent example of how a modern use, when properly planned, can bring new life to a durable utilitarian building while conversely conveying substance to the modern use. ING Direct’s management, based in Holland, chose the Christiana Waterfront and the rebirth of this old structure because it reminded them of the Netherlands. Associate architect with Tevebaugh Associates -- Cecil Baker and Associates

Widener University: Lipka Hall
Chester, Pennsylvania
This building had previously been converted from a car dealership used car dealership into space used by the University’s Bursar, Registrt and Financial Aid offices. The previous renovation created a poorly organized assemblage the students found confusing. The new project created an impressive “One-Stop-Shop” where the role of all three functions could be accommodated at one convenient location which provided a clearly understood procedure and high quality impression for the student to conduct their business.

State of Delaware: Haslet Armory Conversion
Dover, Delaware
This Neo-Classical building, constructed in 1932 as a National Guard Armory and served its country well. The State of Delaware decided to breathe new life into the building with an adaptive reuse for office use for the State. The well built structure and impressive amenities such as the two story drill hall and associated two story windows, provided ample opportunity to make a distinctive modern office facility function efficiently and accentuate that advantages that the classic structure presented. All of this while respecting the buildings venerable position on The Green in Dover, Delaware, adjacent to Legislative Hall, Delaware seat of government. A challenge that was successfully solved was how the project elegantly provided handicap accessibility to the building by means of a mid-level entry element at grade which provide access to new stairs and an elevator. The project’s success was recognized in an award by Preservation Delaware’s, 2007 Preservation Awards, “Government Involvement in a Preservation Project," Honorable Mention.

Lincoln University: Grim Hall
Licoln University, Pennsylvania
The University needed a master plan. The initial intention of the university was just to provide a plan for a funding source in order to provide financing for proposed dormitories. Through hard work and advanced observation skills, the master plan encompassed the entire campus, providing guidance for placement of the dormitories as well as a myriad of other potential structures for the University. The campus which had a wide mix of old, stoic buildings as well as more hastily planned modern structures. The master plan helped organize the campus into logical regions and solved vehicular and pedestrian challenges in order to make the campus into a jewel.
